Van Alstyne Economic Development was founded in 1996 as a Non Profit Corporation, Chartered by the State of Texas. The Van Alstyne Economic Development Corporation is responsible for the creation and implementation of a competitive industrial (economic) development program for the city with the following objectives;
- Expand and create existing job opportunities
- Retain and expand existing businesses
- Attract new businesses and investment opportunities
- Protect the local enviroment and resources
The Van Alstyne VAEDC board consists of five members residing within the Van Alstyne ETJ and/or Van Alstyne ISD who volunteer to serve. Board members are appointed by the Van Alstyne City Council. The board meets monthly on the first Monday of each month.
The Van Alstyne VAEDC was responsible for the land procurement, development of the Cold Springs Industrial Park complete with rail spur. In addition, the VAEDC has been instrumental in attracting new businesses with the development of industrial space with in the city.
